He and his wife Joanna have lived on the island for 3 years now and are film makers from the states. It was about 5 A. We thought maybe it was a specific food but it seemed as if the next one was worse than the one before. They had just cleaned it so we walked into the fresh smell of cleaning products. We were riding along and we come to a narrow spot and there is a man standing on the path and so we had to come to a quick stop. Nicole has it pretty bad as well, spending most nights awake and itching. The chicken was so moist, the sauce was delicious, the beans and rice were sweet and savory and the fried plantain was just right! I am a light sleeper as I might have mentioned so I am either woken up by a golf cart putting by, a friendly Belizean yelling at his friend, the heat, the pouring of rain, or a bird screeching on the nearby trees. Its head was just under the water and it was so still. A man came out asked if we wanted anything to drink, we ordered a coca cola which he ran to the store across the street to get from the market.

We drug our suitcases back outside to be loaded onto the bus. It was Thursday and I was sitting there I get a message from Ben, a friend we had met at hockey the other day. We later figured out from a friend that its something with the shipping containers that certain stores use and it just gets absorbed by all of the food. Your picture of the lizard is what they call a wishwilly, and they will bite, as far as the ants you will never be rid of them and the sting is uncomfortable for awhile, ohhh the sand flies itch like crazy and will leave you with some nice little scars. Its blowing everywhere! It was a little different than what I am used to. Meanwhile the women in the back would come and grab food from the fridge which we were sitting right next to. We bought bug spray but neither of us like the idea of having deet on our skin everyday so we have been using coconut oil which seems to work but you have to just remember to put it on a lot because you eventually sweat it all off. Its blowing everywhere! This is something I have never experienced in my life and it just is such an awesome experience that I cant even explain to someone. We bought chicken, rice, beans, eggs, butter, oatmeal, and a few other miscellaneous items. So I last left this with an adventurous and eager attitude, and this my friends has not subsided!. The food came out and it was SO good. The road was just a big mud pile with lots of huge puddles and with it raining it was only getting worse. We finished up and headed back home to end our day, which one of the best days I have had on the island so far! This store is really nice and clean and has such a large selection of everything and their produce truly is the best and always looks really fresh.

As I mentioned before there is a super market and a hardware store about every 50 feet on this island. Both of us were a little confused as to what was going on from between being tired and the lady speaking broken English. Most people were headed to Belize city. Its almost a contradiction because life here seems SO slow but on the other hand it seems to always be moving. Notify me of new comments via email. So we buy a few things and head home. Not much to see out of the window because the roads were very dark so the little entertainment I got was Deadliest Catch in Spanish. The weather here can change drastically in a matter of minutes. We have been trying to try different places and take different paths. I try to stay as diligent as possible when I comes to putting something on to repel them but it is hard! I am an excellent eves dropper, one of my better habits, I mean…. We look over and there is about a 7 foot croc right up next to where we were eating. We sat at the table inside overlooking the pool and lagoon.

Slowly people started to show up. Nicole fell asleep and I kept dozing off but waking myself up because I would start to slouch over and have to catch myself from tipping over onto the lady next to me. I just stood there gave him the international poor symbol and walked away. I am guessing our bodies needed some rest. We finished up and headed back home. With nothing to do but watch the clock we waited what felt like forever till it was light outside. We rode up and there was just one person there. It was awesome to see one just out in the wild like that!

They have a bunch of inner tubes in the water around the dock that you can float in and have a drink. Which might I add was very unfortunate! But thankfully we came around one of the worse months as far as weather and it will start to get cooler and less humid in the next month or so. Everyone crowded around the entrance as they collected the tickets and helped people aboard. Nicole fell asleep and I kept dozing off but waking myself up because I would start to slouch over and have to catch myself from tipping over onto the lady next to me. Me being the philanthropist that I am, I decided to take a little basket, fill it with some snack mix the spicy santé fe one from sprouts yummmmmmm, sorry for the plug , and put it out there to see if I could get attention of some of my feathered friends. The other day I lifted my backpack and there was a little gecko underneath which is nothing I had even ever seen back in the states. Love you, Jut. Every bite just had this horrible taste. Finishing up we gathered our luggage and walked across the street to settle in for the long haul. It was about 2 P. Demanding a tip.

Trying to pace ourselves we ate as slow as possible because we knew we had a lot of time to kill. We pulled up and were greeted by their barking dogs and they came out to join us. We collected our bags and drug them across the wooden dock. Once everyone is out they all stand around waiting for the crew to unload their items that they had brought with them. Our first week here we wanted to not go crazy and buy things that are native so that we can live cheaply here because that was one of the main reason of moving here. There are a few bicycle repair shops around town as well. We sat and sent messages out to everyone letting them know we had made it safely as we ate. We sat around on benches as we admired the Bay of Corozal, people fishing off the pier with nothing but a line and some bait, and the gathering people as they came to catch the boat. They had people sitting on top, all the seats were filled, and under all the seats was packed with goods and bags that people were bringing to the islands After the rest of the people crammed in we were finally off.

At this point we were both really hungry and tired and were fading pretty fast. Last week as we were grocery shopping we decided to pick up a local newspaper. We had to leave by A. The heat is something that takes a little getting used to. It looked just like a log so I understand why they can be so dangerous! The streets are packed with delivery vehicles giving the stores their orders. You are commenting using your Google account. We both were under the impression that the island was so much closer to the mainland than it actually was so the ride seemed to take forever! So we are sitting there enjoying the sun when all of a sudden here come the wind and the rain. Rolling our luggage down the busy broken streets we are on the hunt for some food. Everyone was super cool, a lot of people around our age, which was a change from all the older retired people at our complex. Funny thing about these places is that most of the time they run out of food within the first few hours of the day. She is laying there folded up in this cushion and everyone is dying laughing. The sun was out and it was really hot but thankfully we had made it to our destination. It has an amazing view on both sides. He was very nice! Bikes and walking is free to cross though. I must have not looked very dangerous but the young girl in front of us apparently did. We kept walking until we reached the center of town and went into the grocery store there because we were told the prices would be better.

Most people were waiting for this bus so we lined up, loaded the baggage under the bus and off we went towards Belize! A few people got on and a few people got off. My dad dropped us off and promised not to cry and we went to check ourselves in. Nodding my head the whole time he then he asked if I understood. Us knowing all along I listened to be nice. The pier was only a few blocks from where we were so we got there with time to spare to board the thunderbolt water taxi. We were the only 2 people who got off at this stop. Slowly we made our way to a window with a woman behind asking for our passports. I am guessing our bodies needed some rest. The rain is one of the most bipolar things I have ever encountered. My dad dropped us off and promised not to cry and we went to check ourselves in. Getting through security was a breeze, no problems thankfully. With that this valuable information obviously seemed worthy of a tip. We ordered a couple cheese burgers and they were really good!

Seeing all the houses on the water, and all the plant life everywhere in the blue water nothing like the brown ocean we have at home. We sat at the table inside overlooking the pool and lagoon. Sure enough, I opened the oatmeal, which was sealed, took a whiff, and it smelled like potpourri! It was Thursday and I was sitting there I get a message from Ben, a friend we had met at hockey the other day. Off we went into downtown Cancun. Felt so good standing in the clear water. As we were almost done with our food we realized why they called it the lazy croc. Mexico time. Had to buy our cheesy magnet and keychain at the gift shop in the terminal. There were things I completely forgot to mention in my blog, and reading your point of view is really funny!! I did get an exit row which my long legs were very thankful for though. Everyday we wake up, eat a little something, then head to the pool to hang out and check our emails etc. Its head was just under the water and it was so still. We got to Dallas, Texas, hoped on the tram to take us to our gate had a little time so we ate some McDonalds just in time to board our plane. Post to Cancel. The flight was nothing memorable, except we got stuck next to the only person on the plane that was coughing. After about 20 minutes we got waved forward to take our turn. The restaurant is right on a little lagoon. I was really surprised, I thought I was going to have to bring my stuff down if I wanted to play.
